AYA CONDEMNS UNPROVOKED AND UNCOUTH ATTACKS BY KWAME BAFFOE (ABRONYE) ON DR. RICHARD ANANE

The Asante Youth Association (AYA) has observed with deep disappointment and indignation the crude, disrespectful, and reckless utterances made by the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Kwame Baffoe Abronye, on his television program “The Evidence” yesterday, where he launched an unwarranted verbal attack on the esteemed patron of AYA, Hon. Dr. Richard Winfred Anane.

Dr. Anane is a distinguished statesman, a former Minister of State, and a revered figure within Asanteman and the political history of the Fourth Republic. His record of service, humility, and commitment to national development is well recognized. For Abronye to single him out for vile insults is not only unfortunate, but it also reflects a worrying culture of political indiscipline and disrespect that must be condemned.

We wish to state without ambiguity that:

  1. The Ashanti Region will not tolerate Abronye’s presence, manner of conduct, or brand of divisive politics within our political and cultural space.
The youth of Asanteman are committed to promoting politics of respect, ideas, and progress—not foul-mouthed theatrics.

  2. AYA strongly cautions all presidential aspirants, parliamentary figures, and national or regional figures of the NPP (or any political organization) that Abronye himself should not be brought as part of any campaign entourage to the Ashanti Region.
The region has its pride, cultural values, and deep respect for leadership. Abronye’s conduct is inconsistent with these values and will not be entertained.

  3. It is individuals like Abronye who have contributed to the dwindling respect and declining goodwill of the party among the populace.
His behavior has become detrimental to party unity, discipline, and cohesion.

AYA calls on the national leadership of the NPP to immediately and publicly dissociate itself from Abronye’s comments and to take steps to address this growing culture of disrespect and disorder.

In conclusion, never again will we tolerate disrespect against prominent icons in Politics, Academia, Business, and the Corporate world who have served and continue to serve Asante/Asanteman and Ghana with dignity. Our heritage demands respect, and it shall be accorded.

Signed:

Dr. Tweneboah Kodua
