The Regional Minister was welcomed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Mba Zechariah Alenbilla, who led him on a tour of areas with drainage and sanitation challenges.

Residents of the electoral area turned out in large numbers to clear waste from streets, distill gutters, and tidy up public spaces.

The MCE, accompanied by the Assembly member for the Asoufua-Asamang Electoral Area, Mr. Michael Osei Kwaku, and the Regional Minister, also inspected stalled projects in Asuofua and Asamang.

Dr. Amoakohene expressed satisfaction with the active participation of the MCE, traditional leaders, assembly members, NDC party faithfuls, and residents in the clean-up exercise.

He urged stakeholders to make environmental cleanliness a habit, promoting a green and healthy environment.

The MCE, Mr. Mba Zechariah, thanked President Mahama for reintroducing National Sanitation Day and cautioned residents to maintain a clean environment.

He warned that sanitation offenders would face prosecution and punishment, emphasizing that the sanitation inspectorate unit would conduct unannounced checks.

“The sanitation inspectorate unit of the municipal assembly will not inform anyone when they are coming to their vicinity to conduct checks. If one falls in sanitation offenses, the person will be taken to court,” he stated.

He also charged shop owners and traders to operate in a sanitized environment to promote good health.

Mr. Osei Kwaku expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister, MCE, traditional leaders, and residents for their participation and promised to continue organizing clean-up exercises to keep the environment clean and safe.

Other notable participants included Nana Banie Ahenkan II, Asoufuahemaa; Mr. Simon Karikari Bonsu, Presiding Member; Mr. S.M. Abdul Rahman, Municipal Coordinating Director; and Mr. James Kwabena Nketia, Municipal NADMO Director.
