Amoh Kamel, Municipal Chief Executive nominee of the President for Asokwa on Wednesday morning was unanimously endorsed as such for the elite Municipality.
Garnering a 100% of the “Yes” votes from both the tweleve (12) elected Assembly Members and six (6) government appointees, Mr Kamel takes over from former MCE, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah who served two terms under the previous NPP administration.
At a well organised ceremony at the Asokwa Municipal Assembly conference hall, Presiding Member for the Assembly, Hon. Nana Yaw Wiredu called the special meeting to order.
He asked that deliberations and purpose of the special conference be done with law and order so that the outcome would bring glory to the people of Asokwa.
Elections:
Taking over from the Presiding Member, Mrs Rosemary Adjei Twumasi, Asokwa Municipal Director of Electoral Commission (EC) ushered the electoral processes into action.
Displaying an empty ballot box, Mrs Twumasi urged the Assembly Members to keep their ballots secret so they could together with the EC ensure a transparent process.
Calling the twelve (12) elected Assembly Members first and in turns, the members cast their ballots and dropped same into the ballot box with Chiefs and other invited guests including the former MCE, NDC regional organiser and many finctionaries monitoring the process.
Later on, the six (6) government appointees also proceeded to cast their ballots with the final count showing a 100% endorsement of the President’s nominee.
Elected MCE:
Mr Amoh Kamel speaking after his confirmation and swearing in ceremony, thanked the elected members and government appointees for honoring him with a total endorsement.
He pledged to work with openness of mind so that together they can administer the Municipality for the benefit of the people of Asokwa.
Mr Kamel also praised the efforts of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei for ensuring that he was endorsed by the Assembly Members.
“I pledge to work with the hardworking MP and my own mother, Hon Patricia Appiagyei as well as Assembly Members and staff of this Municipal outfit so that together we can continue to chart the development path which was started by my predecessor, the meticulous Akwannuasah Gyimah”, Mr Kamel stated.
