Ahtoo Montessori School has reached a significant international milestone, securing third place overall out of 32 competing schools at a prestigious robotics competition in the United Kingdom.
This achievement was made possible through a strategic partnership with The MakersPlace, a leading STEM education provider.
In addition to their podium finish, the school took home three major accolades:
The Robot Design Award
The Judges’ Award
The Outstanding Coach Award, presented to Daniel Forson.
This success underscores Ahtoo Montessori’s rising prominence in practical STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and demonstrates how targeted mentorship can bridge the gap between local classrooms and global stages.
Paving Way for Innovation:
The school’s participation was facilitated by The MakersPlace, an organization dedicated to equipping students with future-ready skills.
By providing specialized training, technical coordination, and access to international platforms, The MakersPlace created the essential pathway for the students to compete in the UK.
The event was held as part of the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, a global initiative for students aged 9 to 16.
The program is designed to sharpen proficiency in coding, engineering, research, and collaborative problem-solving.
In the UK and Ireland, the competition is governed by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). This specific regional event for North Tyneside and Northumberland took place in Newcastle upon Tyne from March 10–12, 2026.
Legacy of Excellence
This latest victory is not an isolated incident but part of a consistent track record of excellence.
Ahtoo Montessori has rapidly become a powerhouse in the robotics circuit:
December 2025:
Over 25 students traveled to Wuzhen, China, for the ENJOY AI Global Finals, where they secured the second runner-up spot in the “Battle of Tribes” category.
Earlier 2025:
The school dominated the ENJOY AI African Open, bringing home six major trophies.
Visionary Leadership
The school’s trajectory is heavily influenced by the vision of Dr. Samuel Appiah, Director of Ahtoo Montessori School.
His unwavering commitment to experiential learning and international exposure has been pivotal. Under his leadership, the school has become a model for how innovation and rigorous preparation can translate into global success.
Strengthening STEM Ecosystem:
For The MakersPlace, Ahtoo Montessori’s triumph serves as a “proof of concept” for the value of robust educational partnerships.
The organization remains committed to collaborating with schools to enhance their STEM curricula, bolster student confidence, and connect young learners with elite international platforms.
As educational institutions worldwide strive to prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital economy, Ahtoo Montessori’s success proves that global excellence is attainable.
With the right synergy between school leadership and technical partners, students can transcend traditional classroom boundaries and compete—and win on the world stage.
