Honourable Evans Antwi Agyei, an assembly member for Fawoman Electoral Area in the Ahafo Ano South East District, has been elected as the Assembly’s new Presiding Member (PM).
He was overwhelmingly endorsed by all 31 assembly members in an election held on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, supervised by the Electoral Commission.
The former PM and assembly member, Hon. Ishmael Agyemang Duah, filed his nomination for re-election but later withdrew, allowing Hon. Antwi Agyei to contest unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, the new PM thanked assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to be impartial, uphold the standing orders, and work hard for the district’s development.
Earlier, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Nelson Yamba Issaka Ibrahim, in his keynote address, had pleaded with assembly members to ensure a PM was selected in the meeting.
