THREE NOTORIOUS robbers, who are specialized in street robberies, especially the snatching of mobile phones from their victims, have been apprehended.
They are Satar Adamu, alias ‘UN’, aged 22 years, Philip Nyarko, alias ‘Kawawa’, aged 24 years, and Samak Hadi, nicknamed in the streets as ‘Toronto’, aged 21 years old.
Interestingly, the police has been able to retrieve a staggering number of 65 mobiles phones, made up of Fifty-nine (59) iPhones and Six (6) Android phones from the three suspects.
Also, the police has managed to retrieve Four (4) tablets and Five (5) laptops from the suspects, who are currently being interrogated further before they are sent to court very soon.
DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, addressing the media, described the arrest as a major breakthrough for the police in their fight against crime.
Until their arrest, he said, the suspects conducted series of street robberies within Asokore Mampong, KNUST, Kanyase, Bosore, Duase, Antoa, Mayanka, Ayeduase, and surrounding areas.
According to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, the illegal activities of the three robbers came to the attention of the police so they acted on intelligence to apprehend them.
“All three suspects have confessed to the offenses in their caution statements and are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations”, DCOP Osei Akoto indicated.
He said suspects will be arraigned before court in due course to face the full rigours of the law, urging those who have fallen victims to the operations of the trio to assist the police.
“Members of the public who may have fallen victim to these criminal activities within the affected areas should report to the Command to assist with ongoing investigations”, he said.
DCOP Osei Akoto said the police is committed to maintaining peace, law, and order in the region, appealing to the public to feed the police with vital information about criminals.
