Mr. Osei Kwabena, a resident of Nsuta-Nyamebekyere, was adjudged District Best Farmer, taking home a motorbike, 10 bags of fertilizer, and other farm inputs worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The DCE for the area, Hon. Ibrahim Yamba Nelson Issaka, reiterating the theme for this year’s celebration, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana: Protect the Future”, encouraged Ghanaians to patronize local food.

By patronizing local food, he added, it will not only encourage farmers to produce more but also entice others, including the unemployed, to venture into agriculture.

He commended farmers for their contribution to the Ghanaian economy, pledging the government’s commitment to boosting agriculture through the Feed Ghana programme, Nkoko Nketenkete initiative, seedlings, and fertilizers support.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Yakubu Mohammed, commended farmers for their contribution to national growth and food security.

He pledged the government’s desire to construct feeder roads and reshape bad roads to ease transportation and reduce post-harvest loss.

Nana Osei Ababio, Chief of Biemso No. 2, thanked the government for rewarding farmers, urging them to do their best to produce more in the district.

He also thanked the DCE, MP, traditional leaders, assembly members, and staff of the district directorate of agriculture for a successful Farmers’ Day celebration in town.
