A 16-year-old student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) in Kumasi has been arrested for wielding a gun on campus.
The student, whose name is being withheld, was apprehended by the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, during a routine search conducted by school authorities at the students’ dormitory around 9:30 am.
The police have also arrested the boy’s stepfather, Daniel Owusu Baafi, on May 15, 2024, who is believed to be the owner of the gun, according to police interrogations.
Both the student and his father have been granted police inquiry bail, pending investigations.
School authorities have assured students and parents that they should not worry, hinting that measures are being put in place to ensure students safety while in school.
